Older and Fitter

OLDER and FITTER gives a new meaning to growing older. At Knowbody studios the Clinical Pilates series, Alexander lessons and Posture workshops are all great ways to get fit the safe and effective way.

Knowbody studios are also introducing a health coaching program called Actively Ageing. If you are over 60 and are interested in getting fitter, then this programme can also be a great starting point for you.

This program was designed and written by a Queensland physiotherapist Alison Ford.

The program is going nationally to be available in all states. Maddy Lock at Knowbody studios is the first certified Melbourne provider.

The Actively Ageing Course offers essential Information and techniques for the over 60’s to have safe and healthy lives as you age.

The Actively Ageing Kit includes an Informative book, an exercise booklet and diary with a home DVD.

The Actively Ageing Health Coaching program involves:

1. An assessment by an experienced physio

2. 2 to 3 health coaching sessions to assist with setting realistic goals and  monitoring progress. (1on 1 and phone support).

3. A 4 week course attending twice a week. These are small groups run by a physiotherapist.

There will be health education topics including bone and brain health and a progression of exercises to practice at home.

For the not so mobile there is a diverse repertoire of chair based exercises which can be fun as well as beneficial.
